Online ACT-Informed Counselling Across the UK

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is an evidence-based approach that helps you develop a healthier relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions. Rather than struggling against anxiety or trying to eliminate uncomfortable feelings, ACT helps you respond to them in ways that support your wellbeing and values.

  • Experience persistent anxiety or overthinking
  • Feel overwhelmed by family expectations
  • Struggle with guilt or self-criticism
  • Avoid situations because of fear or worry
  • Feel disconnected from what matters most to you
  • Want to build confidence and emotional resilience

Together, we explore practical ways of responding to difficult thoughts and emotions while moving towards a more meaningful and balanced life.

ACT for Muslim Women

Many Muslim women experience challenges shaped by faith, family expectations, cultural responsibilities and personal values.

ACT provides a compassionate framework for exploring these experiences while helping you stay connected to what is important to you.

This is not religious guidance or advice. It is counselling that respects your faith, lived experience and individual circumstances.

One of the most common misunderstandings about Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is the word "acceptance".

Acceptance does not mean giving up, approving of a difficult situation or passively tolerating suffering.

Instead, acceptance involves acknowledging thoughts, emotions and challenges as they are, rather than using all of your energy fighting against them.

For some Muslim women, this idea may feel similar to aspects of sabr (patience and perseverance). Sabr is often misunderstood as simply "putting up with things", when in reality it can involve strength, resilience and continuing to move forward despite difficulties.

In a similar way, ACT encourages us to make space for difficult emotions while continuing to take meaningful action guided by our values.

Rather than becoming stuck in anxiety, fear or self-doubt, the goal is to respond with greater awareness, flexibility and purpose.
